Child Bicyclist Struck by a Motor Vehicle in Scott County

Scott County-On May 18th at approximately 5:30pm, Scott County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to Collins Road in southern Scott County in reference to a seriously injured child who had been struck by a motor vehicle. The child was riding a bicycle at the time of the collision with the vehicle.  After being attended to at the scene, the child was transported to University Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky for further treatment, with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Matthew Dean, 39, of Austin, Indiana was at the scene of the collision when deputies arrived and was not injured. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.    

Deputy Kenneth Black of the Scott County Sheriff's Office is the investigating officer, assisted by First Sergeant Johnney Coomer. Firefighters/first responders from the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department and the Scott County Emergency Services (EMS) also assisted deputies at the scene.
