Sheriff's Deputies Arrest Scottsburg Resident for

Alleged Rape, Domestic Battery, and Strangulation

Scott County-On 9-26-2022, Dennis O. Deal, 68, of Scottsburg, was arrested by Scott County Sheriff's Deputies after Deputies responded the previous evening to the Scott Memorial Hospital to investigate an alleged sexual battery complaint. Detective First Sergeant Jacklyn Shofner of the Sheriff's Office was contacted and took over investigative responsibility for the alleged battery. Upon the conclusion of Detective Shofner's investigation which took several days to complete, an investigative report was turned over to the Scott County Prosecutor's Office for the formal charging of Deal, resulting in the following charges filed: Rape, Domestic Battery, Strangulation, Sexual Battery, and Criminal Confinement. Deal remains incarcerated at the Scott County Jail. 

NOTE: Donald Deal was incarcerated early Monday morning by deputies on the original charge of domestic battery, strangulation and criminal confinement. Assistance with this investigation was provided by the Scott Memorial Hospital, the Clark Memorial Hospital, and the Scott County Prosecutor's Office.
