Attempted ESCAPE at the Scott County Jail Thwarted by Jail Deputies...Decisive Action by Jail Staff Praised by the Sheriff

Scott County-On 8-25-2022, an inmate at the Scott County Jail attempted to escape from custody and the decisive action of Jail Deputies brought the attempt to a screeching halt while the inmate, identified as Joshua Bennett, 20 of Clarksville was still inside the jail. Bennett, who has been an inmate at the jail since August 19th, was originally charged by Scottsburg Police for resisting law enforcement, battery on a public official, and criminal trespass. This latest escape attempt is being investigated by the Sheriff's Office and more charges will assuredly follow.

Sheriff Goodin provided the following comment..."I am extremely pleased with the swift action taken by jail deputies in squashing this inmate's hope of fleeing custody and possibly wreaking havoc on our citizens and community. The training and professionalism of the Scott County Jail Deputies shined through in how they handled this situation and I couldn't be more proud of them".  The investigation into this matter is ongoing and additional charges will be requested once the investigation is complete and further reviewed by the Scott County Prosecutor.
