Scott-The Scott County Sheriffs' Office property end of service "on-line auction" is back in full swing, beginning over the weekend.  The auction is 100% on line which mitigates COVID exposure, allowing everyone to bid on individual items such as utility vehicles and trucks, trailers for hauling, miscellaneous tools and tool boxes, and other items placed together in lots for the bargain hunter to consider placing a bid on. This auction, and those to follow are 100% supported by Sheriff Goodin who advised..."this is what I most like about this effort...being able to manage my office efficiently by utilizing every available resource saves our citizens when they have to pay taxes, which is something we all appreciate". Several items were purchased with local tax dollars, with those tax dollars being returned to Scott County through this effort. Other items were acquired through the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO), established by the National Defense Authorization Act of 1997, authorizing law enforcement agencies who choose to participate to receive excess Department of Defense property that is no longer needed and will be destroyed. The receiving agency initially acquires the property for a projected need and after a set period of time, they are authorized to sale the property and utilize the funds generated to support law enforcement requirements within their respective areas.  The Scott County Sheriffs' Office is one of 8,800 law enforcement agencies that participate in this program. After this auction ends on 17 June at 3pm, another 10 items will be posted for sale shortly afterward when Auction #3 commences. This will continue until all equipment earmarked for sale has been offered to our citizens.
