SCOTT COUNTY SHERIFFS' OFFICE PARTICIPATES IN WALMART HEART PROGRAM AND THE AUSTIN COMMUNTIY HEALTH FAIR EVENT
Scott- On 5-14-2022, the Scott County Sheriffs' Office simultaneously supported two (2) special events in Scott County as community gatherings mark the beginning of warm weather in southern Indiana. Both events, the Austin Health and Community Resource Fair and the Walmart Heart Program and Parade were scheduled to kick off at 10am on Saturday morning. Sheriff Goodin and Deputies "divided and conquered" by providing support to both of these community loved events. The Austin Community Health and Resource Fair was sponsored by Foundations Family Medicine and REFRESH F5. The well attended event included many local vendors offering various services in support of community citizens in Scott County. Additionally, the Walmart Heart Program, championed by local citizen Kevin Smallwood, is a national program aimed at providing seriously ill children and others in need with a "positive experience to help lift their spirits". A Walmart tractor-trailer combination is decorated with pictures of citizens and children who have been uplifted by the program...a picture of our local hero, toddler Noah Lloyd, was added to the trailer with other honored participants of the past, followed soon after by a "hero's parade". At the day's conclusion, Sheriff Goodin shared his thanks..."supporting the community by participating in these events will always be a priority and furthermore a blessing to me and my staff...thank you Scott County for being the caring, gracious community that we all call home".
