Scott County Sheriff's Deputy Seizes Drugs and Contraband during Traffic Stop Resulting in Three More Drug Arrest

Scott County-On March 26th, Deputy Zachary Brown stopped a black passenger car in Scottsburg for several traffic violations ending in the arrest of the three occupants.  Deputy Brown advised as he approached the vehicle, he immediately detected the odor of marijuana emitting from inside.  After an investigation at the scene by Deputy Brown and Deputy William Morris, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Daniel Goetzinger, 34 of Scottsburg, IN and the passengers, identified as Chatana Mcreary, 33 of Scottsburg, IN and Eric Scott Long, 40, of Deputy, IN were placed under arrest for multiple drug violations. The following drugs and paraphernalia were located;  

  • Methamphetamine - 6.3 grams
  • Heroin - 0.83 grams
  • Sublingual Pills - 6.5 pills
  • One (1) Meth Pipe
  • Marijuana - 119 grams

Daniel Goetzinger was charged with Possession of Marijuana over 28 grams and Maintaining a Common Nuisance.  Chatana Mcreary was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine over 5 grams but less than 10 grams, Visiting a Common Nuisance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug, and Possession of Marijuana over 28 grams. Eric Scott Long was charged with Possession of Marijuana over 28 grams and Visiting a Common Nuisance.   Assistance at the scene and with defendant transportation to the Scott County Jail was provided by Trooper Rainey of the Indiana State Police, Sellersburg Post.

 (Additional Arrest)

On March 25th, Deputies arrested Lesa Dossett, 55 of Scottsburg, IN for Domestic Battery - Child less than 16 Years of Age.

NOTE:  Not only are Deputies arresting the offenders on the street, our Deputy Jailers are offering services and classes to our inmates.  These services and classes provide a path for our inmates to get clean while simultaneously receiving much needed job skills training, their high school equivalency diploma, substance abuse treatment, spiritual involvement with numerous church groups and association with peer support groups such as Thrive.
