On March 23rd at approximately 12:12am, First Sergeant Johnney Coomer responded to an address on East Crothersville Road in northern Scott County to further investigate a crash that happened earlier on I-65 in Scott County.  Upon arrival at the residence, First Sergeant Coomer made contact with multiple individuals who he suspected were under the influence of a mind altering drug and furthermore observed in plain view various drugs and paraphernalia. First Sergeant Coomer immediately began a criminal investigation resulting in the seizure of the aforementioned items, a hand gun, methamphetamine, and syringes. Sheriff Goodin advised the following regarding this criminal intervention..."First Sergeant Coomer did exactly what I expect of a great Deputy...he arrived on scene to conduct a vehicle crash investigation and when he observed far more than that, he changed gears, taking immediate enforcement action against those he observed who were involved with illegal narcotics. This is another example of how we together are making Scott County the safest community in America.  Not only are Deputies arresting the offenders on the street, our Deputy Jailers are offering services and classes to our inmates.  These services and classes provide a path for our inmates to get clean while simultaneously receiving their high school equivalency diploma, substance abuse treatment, spiritual involvement with numerous church groups and association with peer support groups such as Thrive. To say I am proud of the services we provide is an understatement".

Arrested at the scene were the following;

Adam Spicer, 28 of Madison, IN was arrested for Visiting a Common Nuisance and Dealing in Methamphetamine.
