Possible Tragedy Averted by Scott County Sheriff's Deputy

Scott County-On March 22 (earlier this morning) while on patrol, First Sergeant Johnney Coomer clocked a vehicle at 101 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone in Scott County.  First Sergeant Coomer stopped the vehicle and subsequently arrested Jennifer Smith, 39 of Austin, IN for the unsafe speed violation and for Operating While Intoxicated, testing nearly three (3) times the legal limit at .21 percent.  Sheriff Goodin stated the following..."we have lost far too many citizens on Indiana Highways due to irresponsible operation of a motor vehicle.  I commend First Sergeant Coomer and all Scott County Sheriff's Deputies for being that sword and shield, providing a blanket of security for our citizens by taking aggressive action when justified.  First Sergeant Coomer likely saved a life this morning with the enforcement action of this reckless and furthermore intoxicated driver...for that, I am grateful".  Jennifer Smith was booked into the Scott County Jail, charged with Operating while Intoxicated w/ BAC of .08 or more, Operating While Intoxicated w/ BAC of .15 or more, Reckless Driving, Operating while Intoxicated Endangering and Public Intoxication.

(Additional Arrests): The following arrests were made recently by Scott County Sheriff's Deputies as the push continues in the quest to make Scott County the safest place to live in America.

 

On March 20th, Deputies arrested Devony Thompson, 42 of Scottsburg, IN for an Out of County Warrant.

Deputies made the following arrest on March 21st;

Jacob Rice, 24 of Henryville IN for a Warrant for Escape and Resisting Law Enforcement.

James Pedigo, 23 of North Vernon IN was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and Maintaining a Common Nuisance.
