Traffic Stop Leads to Multiple Drug Arrests

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Multiple Drug Offenders...Additional Trafficking with an Inmate Charge Levied Against Offender once Inside Jail Facility

Scott County-On January 26th at approximately 9:31pm, First Sergeant Johnney Coomer was on patrol in southern Scott County near the intersection of Collins Road and County Line Road when he observed a dark colored passenger van parked in the roadway.  The van side sliding door was open and as he drove up to the van, it began moving west on County Line Road. First Sergeant Coomer initiated a traffic stop for a moving violation shortly thereafter. The driver, identified as Mark A. Winchester, 28 of Lexington, Indiana was subsequently arrested for Driving while Suspended with a Prior Offense and for multiple drug related offenses. Three (3) passengers within the van, identified as Dustin Wood, 31 of Austin, James Winchester, 26 of Austin, and Carmyn Porter, 30 of Scottsburg were all taken into custody for various drug offenses and transported to the Scott County Jail by Deputy Jailers who responded to the scene to assist.  Upon arrival at the jail and while processing Carmyn Porter, Deputy Jailer Lindsay Neace located approximately 6 grams of suspected Heroin concealed upon Porter's person, as she was apparently attempting to smuggle the drug into the jail facility.  An additional charge of Trafficking with an Inmate was levied against Porter for the drugs found upon her inside the jail. The following information pertains to the arrested and the subsequent charges faced by each as a result of this traffic stop;

  • Mark A. Winchester, 28 Lexington, Indiana was charged with Maintainign a Common Nuisance and for Driving while Suspended with a Prior Offense.
  • Dustin K. Wood, 31 of Austin, Indiana was charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of a Syringe, Possession of Parapharnelia, and Visiting a Common Nuisance.
  • James R. Winchester, 26 of Austin, Indiana was charged with Visiting a Common Nuisance.
  • Carmyn M. Porter, 30 of Scottsburg, Indiana was charged with Visiting a Common Nuisnace, Obstruction of Justice, Possession of a Syringe, Possession of Cocaine, Dealing in Cocaine or Narcotic Drug-at Least 5 grams but less than 10 grams, and Trafficking with an Inmate.

On January 25, 2022 at approximately 6:10pm, Deputies arrested Edward Wilson, 67 of Austin Indiana for Operating While Intoxicated Endangering a Person and Operating While Intoxicated.

On January 26th, 2022 at approximately 11:45am, Deputies arrested Teresa Noel, 60 of Hanover, Indiana for an Escape Warrant and for Dealing in Methamphetamine- at Least one Gram less than 5 Grams.

Deputies arrested David Mcfarlin, 24 of Scottsburg IN on a warrant for Escape-Flees from Lawful Detention and Burglary.

Deputies arrested Paul Banks, 31 of Scottsburg IN was arrested for Invasion of Privacy.
