3rd annual "Shop with the Sheriff"

Scott County-On December 17th from 6-8pm, Sheriff Jerry Goodin and teammates from the Scott County Sheriffs Office along with Centra Credit Union employees who partnered with the Sheriff's Office invaded the Walmart Supercenter in Scottsburg with 58 children from across the county, focused on purchasing needed clothing and other articles to include special gifts in the spirit of Christmas. This year's event marks the 3rd annual, started by Sheriff Goodin when he took office in 2019...each year, the number of children and families supported has grown to the record number served this year, even as a few children were not able to attend due to illness. Sheriff Goodin stated..."the smiles and hugs were many and as your Sheriff, I rank this event as one of the most important of the year, where we can provide support and love to children and families who need a little help".  After shopping at Walmart, who graciously supported this event once again, the children were transported to the Mid-America Science Park in Scottsburg and treated to a meal and a stocking stuffed to the rim, provided by Santa and Mrs. Claus.  A great time was had by all!

Sheriff Goodin advised the gracious support of the business community and citizens alike make this event happen...THANK YOU may seem cliché, but know it comes from the heart.  17 local businesses managed donation contribution canisters, 24 businesses made direct monetary contributions and 11 families donated in the spirit of giving.

On behalf of the Sheriff of Scott County and staff, have a blessed and safe Christmas and New Year...we remain ready to serve you, our community.
