09/09/2021

Sheriff Goodin is Proud to Introduce the County's Newest Deputy

"K-9 Karma"

Scott County-The Scott County Sheriff's Office has a new K-9 deputy named, "Karma". She was imported from the country of Hungary and is a three year old Belgian Malinois. She is certified in narcotics detection through NNDDA (National Narcotics Detection Dog Association). She along with Scott County Deputy, First Sergeant Charlie Morgan, just graduated from the Houston, Texas K-9 Academy.

"Karma" was gifted to the Scott County Sheriff's Office and the citizens of Scott County after First Sergeant Morgan applied for a K-9 grant through the sheriff's office.

"Karma" was gifted by the non-profit organization named, K9 Officers. K9 Officers is a non-profit organization providing K-9s, K-9 handler training and equipment to local law enforcement agencies across the United States.

K-9 "Karma" is valued at over $10,000.00 and the training was valued at approximately $5,000.00, but because of the gift by K9 Officers, these items cost Scott County Taxpayers nothing.

Sheriff Goodin is extremely pleased with the addition of "Karma" to the deputy roster saying, "Karma not only helps us in the continued fight against drugs but also adds another tool for the safety of Scott County citizens."

"Karma" will be on daily patrol with her handler First Sergeant Charlie Morgan.
