County Police Car Catches on Fire

Scott:  On August 12, 2021, during vehicle maintenance, a county police car caught on fire while being test driven by an employee of the Sheriff's Office. The incident occurred around 3:15 PM on U.S. #31 near Moonglo Road.  Deputies arrived at the scene and the fire was extinguished.  Scott County EMS transported the employee to the Scott Memorial Hospital for smoke inhalation.  He was released a short time later.

The preliminary investigation shows the fire appeared to be an electrical wiring fire that started in the trunk of the car.  The fire was not a result of the mechanical work being done on the car at the time.

The car has major smoke damage and electrical wiring damage.
