Investigation by the Scott County Sheriff's Office Leads to the Arrest of a Male for Multiple Sexual Related Offenses

Scott County- On December 12, 2020, First Sergeant John Hartman, Detective Jacklyn Shofner, and Deputy Eric Balingit responded to a residence in Scott County on allegations of inappropriate sexual contact with one minor child and one minor teenager.  Deputies and Detective Shofner made contact with Jacob Smith, age 18, of Scottsburg.  Multiple interviews were conducted and further investigation led to the arrest of Smith for the following charges of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, Child Molest-Sexual Intercourse or Other Sexual Conduct with a Child Under 14, Vicarious Sexual Gratification, and Dissemination of Matter Harmful to a Minor.
