Transcript of the Sheriff's Speech on the Coronavirus, (COVID-19)

Scott County-This transcript is of a short video of Sheriff Jerry Goodin that is published on our Facebook page in reference to the coronavirus.  Please take the time to view the video.

Hello, I just wanted to make this short video to let the citizens of Scott County know what we as a Sheriff's Office are doing to keep you safe during this coronavirus scare.  At this time, we have the jail shutdown to outside visitors as a precaution to prevent anyone from bringing the coronavirus into the jail.

We want our citizens to know that we are still responding to calls as usual.  We have actually increased our patrol efforts. However, do not be offended or scared if our deputies show up with protective gloves and a medical style facemask.  It is only for everyone's protection.

We also want the criminals to know we have increased our manpower on the roads and are being extra vigilant during this time and if you break the law you will go to jail.

Also, unfortunately during these trying times we will have scammers attempting to gain your personal information and steal your money both electronically and by phone.  Do not provide any information to any callers claiming to have a cure or test for the coronavirus.  These are a scams.

I want to assure you we are working closely with local, state and federal authorities to make sure we are doing everything we can do.

In closing, I want to make sure that if any Scott County Citizen needs assistance, especially our seniors and homebound folks contact the Sheriff's Office at 812-752-5550.
