Reckless Driver Leads to One in Custody and other Overnight Arrest

 

Scott-On October 3, 2019, Deputy Johnney Coomer received information of a reckless driver in the Blocher area. Call received stated vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed, no windshield, and driver allegedly had a suspended operator's license. Deputy Coomer was able to locate the vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated. Driver of the vehicle was identified as Kurt Heath, age 25, of Lexington, Indiana. Further investigation showed the vehicle had false and fictitious plates, no valid insurance, and Heath had a suspended driver's license. Heath was taken into custody and transported to the Scott County Jail. Heath has been charged with DRIVING WHILE SUSPENDED (SUSP/PRIOR).

On October 3, 2019, Deputy JR Ward and Deputy Josh Julliot observed a suspicious vehicle in Scottsburg. Deputy Ward initiated a traffic stop. Occupant of the vehicle was identified as Joseph Chastain, age 40, of Salem. Further investigation revealed, Chastain had an active out of county warrant through Washington County. Chastain was taken into custody on the active warrant and transported to the Scott County Jail. Chastain was arrested on an OUT OF COUNTY WARRANT.
