Facebook Post Lands Two in Jail for Dope Dealing
Scott County-On May 25th, 2019, Deputy Joe Baker and Deputy John Hartman with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation on the illegal sale of drugs. The Sheriff’s Office was alerted by the public after Cassidi Allen, 19, of Scottsburg, posted on her Facebook account that she was not afraid to advertise selling drugs on social media because one of her family members was in with the police. She was badly mistaken. After the investigation was completed, Ashanti Burgess, 22, of Scottsburg and Cassidi Allen, 19, of Scottsburg were both arrested and charged with Dealing Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana. They were incarcerated at the Scott County Jail. Marijuana, digital scales and U.S. Currency were seized.
Again, Sheriff Goodin praised the public’s involvement in getting the word to the Sheriff’s Office of alleged drug dealing. He commented, “The Sheriff’s Office and the community are definitely on the same page”.
On May 24th, 2019, a deputy with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office went to Lake Road in Scottsburg in an attempt to serve an outstanding arrest warrant. Upon arrival Corey Barger, 29, of Scottsburg was arrested on a warrant for two counts of Intimidation and one count of Invasion of Privacy.
