Twelve Arrests Involving Drugs, Warrants and Driving,

Deputies Making Scott County Safer

Scott County-On May 3, 2019 Deputy John Smith, Captain Joe Guarneri and Detective Paul Clute with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police responded to Lake Road in an attempt to serve an outstanding warrant. Upon arrival Trenton Campbell, 19, of Scottsburg was arrested on a warrant for Theft.

On May 3, 2019 Deputy Johnney Coomer with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to North Third Street in Scottsburg to attempt to serve an outstanding warrant. Upon arrival Donald Walters, 57, of Scottsburg was arrested on a warrant for Parole Violation.

On May 3, 2019 Deputy Johnney Coomer and Deputy Zack Higdon of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to Leota Road in an attempt to serve an outstanding arrest warrant. Upon arrival Charlie Stacy Jr, 44, of Scottsburg was arrested on a warrant for Failure to Appear.

On May 4, 2019 Deputy Joe Baker, Deputy Johnney Coomer, Deputy Zach Higdon with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Trooper Cameron Collins responded to Oak Terrace Apartments (A-1) in reference to an investigation of the illegal sales of narcotics. Upon arrival Benny King, 70, of Austin was arrested for Dealing in Marijuana, Possession of Methamphetamine and Maintaining a Common Nuisance. Matthew King, 33, of Austin was arrested for Dealing in Marijuana, Possession of Methamphetamine and Maintaining a Common Nuisance. Deputy Baker was also assisted by the Scott County Prosecutor’s Office.

On May 4, 2019 Deputy Johnney Coomer and Deputy Zack Higdon with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to Zoah Church for a business check. Upon arrival two vehicles were found to be backed into the cemetery by the basketball court. An investigation occurred and led to the arrest of Austin Barnett, 18, of Scottsburg for Possession of Marijuana, Maintaining a Common Nuisance and Possession of Paraphernalia.

On May 4, 2019 Deputy Johnney Coomer of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation of a suspicious vehicle. After concluding the investigation Brian Coats, 36, of Scottsburg was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Paraphernalia and Driving While Suspended Prior. Deputy Coomer was assisted by Deputy Darrin Marshall, Officer Cody Kelly of the Austin Police Department and the Indiana State Police.

On May 5, 2019 Lieutenant Shawn Mayer with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to a property damage accident. After an investigation was conducted James Harbold, 19, of Underwood was arrested for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Counts One and Two, and Illegal Consumption of Alcohol.

On May 5, 2019 Deputy Joe Baker, Lieutenant Shawn Mayer and Deputy Phil Thomas of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police responded to 427 Maple Street in Austin for an investigation of the illegal sales of narcotics. After the investigation was concluded four more drug arrests were executed. Jordan Harrell, 24, of Scottsburg was arrested for Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Possession of a Syringe and Possession of a Controlled Substance Count 1 & 2. Jake Hall, 26, of Jeffersonville was arrested for Visiting a Common Nuisance. Ronald Boyt, 37, of Austin was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance Count 1 & 2, Possession of a Syringe and Visiting a Common Nuisance. Rebecca Turner, 27, of Austin was arrested for Visiting a Common Nuisance.

Sheriff Goodin, deputies and the public’s quest for a “Drug Free and Safer Scott County” is happening, thanks to tips from the public. Sheriff Goodin stated “keep the tips coming”.
