K-9 Arina Retires

Effective December 10, 2018, K-9 Arina will be retired from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. Arina is a German Shepherd and was assigned to K-9 handler, Lieutenant Shawn Mayer. Arina began her career at the Scott County Sheriff’s Office on July 11, 2014. She was certified in the area of narcotics.

 

In 2015, Arina received the American Police K-9 Association Presidential Award for Small Department Drug Interdiction.  In her career, she assisted in the seizure of more than $150,000 US currency and approximately $300,000 worth of illicit narcotics.  Arina often made appearances in the schools and participated in programs and presentations for the youth.  Additionally, Arina assisted the schools with searches. 

 

K-9 Arina will remain with her handler and enjoy retirement living with Lieutenant Mayer and family.
