On Wednesday, January 24th deputies Responded to an assistance call on S.R. 256 near S.R. 3 just inside the Jefferson County line for an accident involving one vehicle sinking in a pond. While en route to the accident scene responding units encountered Black Ice on the roadway during their emergency run. During this encounter one responding unit, being driven by Deputy Joe Baker, lost control causing the vehicle to leave the roadway striking a utility pole. Deputy Baker had to be extricated from the vehicle, was treated at the scene and transported to University of Louisville Medical Center by ambulance for assessment and further treatment. As a result of the accident Deputy Baker suffered injuries to his head, neck, and back.
