Scott County- On 8-10-2024, Scott County Sheriff's Deputy Kyle West met with a local Scott County citizen at their home, where he was dispatched regarding the elderly homeowner discovering numerous jewelry items missing. Upon arrival, Deputy West spoke further to the complainant, who was adamant the jewelry was stolen within the last couple weeks and that no one had been inside her home uninvited. The complainant told Deputy West that she and her husband are visited periodically by a "visiting healthcare provider", who is in the home and who abruptly stopped visiting them without notice. Deputy West secured a partial listing of the missing items from the victim homeowner, beginning his investigation at that time. Several days later, Deputy West obtained the name of the home health care provider, Sarah A. Noriega, 34, of Scottsburg, Indiana, who allegedly remained evasive from the victim's home, not visiting or returning phone calls. Deputy West, after locating numerous pieces of the missing jewelry items in Clark County, Indiana and furthermore developing probable cause that suspect Noriega had sold them, placed Sarah A. Noriega, 34, of Scottsburg, Indiana under arrest for Theft, remanding her to the Scott County Jail without incident. On a side note, Deputy West was able to recover nearly every piece of stolen jewelry reported missing by the elderly victim... "a job well done", as lauded by Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin.
