Scott County Sheriff's Office Actively Investigates Burglary and Theft Involving Numerous Storage Units...Offenders Identified and Incarcerated within a Few Hours.

Scott County- On July 16th, a burglary and theft were reported from the Roseland Storage Facility in Scott County to Sheriff's Deputies. Captain Joseph Johnson and First Sergeant Johnney Coomer of the Sheriff's Office responded to the facility and after speaking with the property owner, they immediately launched an investigation. Suspect(s) were identified using video imagery at the business, leading to the identification of two (2) Washington County residents, Jasper Barkley and James Strothoff. On July 17th, another storage unit at the Roseland Storage Facility was discovered burglarized, allegedly conducted by Barkley and Strothoff on the same night they burglarized the first reported storage unit. Detective Donovan McCutcheon of the Scott County Sheriff's Office assumed investigative responsibility, locating both Barkley and Strothoff at a residence in rural Washington County, along with various stolen articles from the burglaries and other items possibly stolen from victims in surrounding counties. Barkley and Strothoff were transported to the Washington County Jail where they remain incarcerated. Both suspects were arrested for burglary, theft, possession of stolen property, obstruction of justice, and possession of illegal substances. Furthermore, both Barkley and Strothoff were wanted on outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions. Detective McCutcheon requests anyone who has been the victim of a recent storage unit burglary or theft to contact their local police agency for assistance. Property was recovered from the residence that may be from another burglary or theft performed by these subjects. Those assisting with this successful investigation were Captain Joseph Johnson and First Sergeant Johnney Coomer of the Scott County Sheriff's Office, the Scott County Prosecutor's Office, the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the Jennings County Sheriff's Office, and the Jefferson County Sheriff' Office.
