Scott County-On 2-10-2024, Corporal Zachary Brown of the Scott County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) was monitoring traffic on US 31 near Curtsinger Drive in the City of Scottsburg.  At approximately 8:15 pm, Corporal Brown stopped a gray Jeep Cherokee for a traffic violation. Further investigation at the scene by Corporal Brown led to the seizure of approximately 6.2 grams of suspected Methamphetamine. Corporal Brown placed Benjamin Edward Smith, 42, of Henryville, Indiana under arrest for Possession of Methamphetamine, and for Maintaining a Common Nuisance, transporting him to the Scott County Jail where he remains.  Sheriff Goodin advised the following... "As I have said numerous times before, if you come to Scott County with drugs in your possession, plan on an extended stay. My deputies are out in force...they care about our community, and they will arrest you if you are committing a crime in Scott County. The citizens expect nothing less from us, and we will deliver".
