Scott County Sheriff's Deputy Arrest Drug Dealers from Kentucky and Ohio, Allegedly Dealing Poison in Scott County...Good Police Work is Lauded by the Sheriff.

(This is a Two (2) Part News Release)

Scott County- On August 21 (Monday), Scott County Sheriff's Deputy Detective Donovan McCutcheon received information that a couple were allegedly attempting to deal in controlled substances to Scott County citizens through social media. After contacting the alleged dealers, Detective McCutcheon successfully set up a controlled purchase of Oxycodone pills from an alleged dealer, later identified as Wanda A. Hicks, 45, of Falmouth, Kentucky. Hicks was arrested immediately following the purchase of the pills, along with Richard D. Daniel, 52, of Fairfield, Ohio, who had driven Hicks to Scott County, facilitating the alleged drug transaction. Wanda A. Hicks was arrested for Dealing in a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Richard A. Daniel was arrested for Dealing in a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and the illegal Possession of a Legend Drug. Hicks and Daniel were transported to the Scott County Jail where they remain incarcerated.

Part two (2) of the News Release

Later on August 21st, Deputy Kyle West was patrolling northern Scott County when he conducted a stop of a motorist for a traffic violation.  The motorist, identified as Aleta L. Elings, 38, no address, was found to be operating the motor vehicle without a valid license, returning as suspended through central dispatch.  Additionally, Elings was wanted on two (2) warrants issued through Scott County for previous alleged drug offenses. During the on-scene investigation, Aleta L. Elings was additionally arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Driving while Suspended.  Elings was transported to the Scott County Jail where she remains incarcerated.

Sheriff Goodin conveyed the following... "I have said it over and over, but I will say it again...If you come to Scott County to deal drugs, get ready to spend time in the Scott County Jail. Scott County Sheriff's Deputies are diligent in their duty to serve and protect this county and our community.  My job as the Sheriff is to ensure they have every tool at their disposal, and that they feel appreciated for what they do...I am grateful for them all, as this news release recognizes two (2) of them specifically for doing outstanding police work, for going above and beyond if you will.  This is an everyday occurrence at the Scott County Sheriff's Office, where service before self is a trait that resonates throughout the entire team...I, as I know you are, am extremely proud of all of them".
