Scott County Sheriff's Posse Called into Action to Apprehend a Runaway...Horse!

Scott County- On June 16th (Friday) after 11:00 am, a call was received that a horse was missing from a property in Lexington Township in eastern Scott County. The horse, reported as extremely wild, was seen several times after being reported missing but attempts to coral it was unsuccessful.  On Sunday, the Scott County Sheriff's Posse, led by Posse President Herman Watts, was contacted to assist in the capture of the horse after it was spotted near the intersection of State Road 3 and State Road 56, making the situation even more dangerous due to the vehicle traffic in the area. After approximately 3 hours of "seek and evade", the posse members were able to safely secure the horse in a trailer and bring good order back to the area.  The horse, described as extremely wild, was not injured while being sought by posse members.  Sheriff Goodin stressed his gratitude to the posse for their invaluable assistance... "The Scott County Sheriff's Posse is my right arm when dealing with many situations that require their unique expertise...successfully corralling and then uploading a wild horse into a trailer for transport is just one example of the capabilities of this unique group of horsemen. I am grateful for them, every day".  Posse members assisting President Watt's were Rhonda Watts, Bob Ferguson, Bronson Barth, and Ms. Elana Watts.

Note: The Scott County Sheriff's Posse is one of the longest-serving posse groups in the State of Indiana, formed in the early 1960s under then-Sheriff Delbert Julian.
