On May 16th 2013 the Scottsburg City Police Department received a call of theft from the Marathon Station located at the intersection of US 31 and Owen street.
The caller advised that a black GMC pickup truck bearing Kentucky registration came into the station pumped $ 75.00 in fuel and then accelerated out of the parking lot turning onto US 31 north bound.
Sheriff Deputies located the suspect pickup truck traveling north bound on US 31 near Austin. Deputies got behind the vehicle activated emergency red and blue lights to conduct a traffic stop.
The black GMC pickup then pulled into a parking lot near the intersection of US 31 and State Road 256 in Austin and then accelerated out of the parking lot disregard the automatic traffic signal.
The black GMC pickup continued north bound through Jackson County with Scott County Sheriff Deputies, Austin City Police, Crothersville Police and Jackson County Deputies pursing after the vehicle.
Seymour City Police shut down the intersection of US 31 and State Road 50 trying to get the pickup to stop.
The black GMC pickup continued north bound on US 31 crossing into Bartholomew County, and went several miles in Bartholomew County before turning east onto county road 850 S.
The black GMC piclup went off the roadway finally surrendering in a corn field located on 850 south.
The male driver of the pickup was identified as Christopher B. Couch and a female passenger was identified as Korrie Shockey both from Perry County, Kentucky.
A seventy-two hour hold has been placed on both subject. Charges pending
