The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is seeking qualified applicants for multiple CORRECTIONS OFFICER positions. Scott County recently constructed a state of the art, pod style, jail facility. The new construction adds 136 beds to the already 58 bed facility bringing the total bed count to194. New Corrections Officer positions have been added to the current jail staff to maintain daily operations of the newly constructed facility.
2016 Corrections Officer hourly wage is $15.80 an hour with a competitive benefit package.
(Varies / 24 Hour Public Service Operation)
This position will primarily be responsible for monitoring inmates, transporting and searching inmates, including the possibility of strip searches. In addition, applicants must be able to perform all essential functions of the job. A copy of the complete job description is available from the Auditor's office and may be obtained at the time of application; 21 years of age; Ability to complete required training as needed. Possession of a Valid Indiana Driver’s License and be in good standing with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Application: Candidates can obtain a Scott County Employment Application from the Scott County Auditor’s Office from 8:30 to 4:30 pm. The Application must be submitted to the Auditor’s office by 12:00 pm, Friday, February 26, 2016.
Basic Skills Test: A written test for the job of Corrections Officer will be administered on March 5th, 2016 at 10 a.m. Applicants are to arrive at 9:30 a.m. at the Scott County Courthouse in the Commissioner's Meeting Room (1st Floor) to take the test. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m and the written test will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. This exam will require approximately two (2) hours of time. Applicants are to bring a picture ID, preferably a Driver’s license of State of Indiana ID card to verify identity at the test site.
Applicants MUST attend the test session to proceed in the selection process. Interviews will be conducted by the Sheriff’s Office officials once tests have been sent off and scored.
