Morgan Briann Coomer

Kurtis Allen Baker

Gary Wayne Smith

On Monday April, 27th, Authorities with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police arrested three individuals for dealing a narcotic drug in the Austin Little League Park.

The authorities were in the area on an unrelated matter and witnessed the trio conduct a drug transaction while parents and children were arriving for little league activities. The Authorities took action and intervened.

Authorities confiscated several tablets of OXYCODONE and US Currency that was used for the purchase of the narcotics. Arrested were Kurtis Baker, age 18; Morgan Coomer, age 20; and Gary Smith, age 58.

OXYCODONE is a controlled substance listed in schedule II and is defined as a Narcotic Drug by Indiana State Statute. Dealing in a Narcotic Drug is a level 5 felony, but Sheriff Dan McClain advises that since this allegedly place in a public park with children present, the charges are enhanced.

Kurtis Baker has preliminarily charged with Dealing in a Narcotic Drug within 500 feet of a public park and Possession of Marijuana. Morgan Coomer has preliminarily been charged with Dealing in a Narcotic Drug within 500 feet of a public park. Gary Smith has preliminarily been charged with Possession of a Narcotic Drug within 500 feet of a public park.

Sheriff McClain explains that his office takes drug dealing offenses very seriously, but especially in our public parks where children and families are affected.
