Two Arrested in Drug Case

December 2, 2014: Deputies with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office arrested Bradley Aaron McRae and Preston Dakota Williams, during a traffic stop that was conducted near the intersection of Turley Road and S.R. 56 in Scottsburg. 

During the investigation, Deputy Shawn Mayer obtained information from both occupants within the vehicle. While speaking to the occupants Deputy Mayer could smell what he believed to be the faint odor of burnt Marijuana coming from within the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Deputy Mayer obtained information from McRae and Williams, radioed dispatch for another officer to assist and began issuing warning citations for the violations(s). Moments later Deputy Jac Sanders arrived on scene and Deputy Mayer retrieved his narcotic detection canine from his commission to conduct an exterior sniff of the vehicle for the possible presence of narcotics all while Deputy Sanders remained with McRae and Williams. 

Upon conducting an exterior sniff of the vehicle, his K-9, Arina, indicated to the possible presence of narcotics within the 2002 Toyota Camry on the rear driver’s door and handle of the exterior of the vehicle.  A subsequent search of the vehicle and personal property incident to arrest resulted in the discovery of marijuana seeds/stems/shake throughout the floorboards and seats of the vehicle, Various items of Paraphernalia, (1) plastic bottle containing pills classified as Schedule IV controlled substances and Legend Drugs all inside the vehicle, and (1) rolled marijuana cigarette in the waistband of Williams’s Boxer Briefs. Subsequently McRae and Williams were arrested and transported to the Scott County Security Center, Scott County, Indiana, for processing.
