Three Arrested in Drug Case

November 29, 2014: Deputies with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office arrested Justin Martin Roberts, Tarin Amanda Cox, and James Everitt Barnett., during a traffic stop that was conducted near the intersection of Wade Street & Booe Road in Austin. 

During the investigation, Deputy Shawn Mayer obtained information from all occupants within the vehicle. While speaking to the occupants all appeared nervous and would not make eye contact. Chief Deputy Don Campbell immediately arrived on scene to begin further investigation on all occupants while Deputy Mayer retrieved his narcotic detection canine from his commission to conduct an exterior sniff of the vehicle for the possible presence of narcotics. 

Upon conducting an exterior sniff of the vehicle, his K-9, Arina, indicated to the possible presence of narcotics within the 2001 Lincoln in (3) locations on the exterior of the vehicle.  A subsequent search of the vehicle and personal property incident to arrest resulted in the discovery of (1) Glass pipe with residue field testing positive for Methamphetamine, (1) small plastic Ziploc baggie with residue field testing positive for Methamphetamine, (1) small spoon with unknown residue, (1) cellophane cigarette wrapper with unknown residue, (1) package of rolling papers and $3407.00 in U.S. Currency inside the vehicle.

Subsequently, Roberts, Cox, and Barnett were arrested and transported to the Scott County Security Center, Scott County, Indiana, for processing. Upon processing all three subjects at the Security Center, an additional $197.11 was seized based on the charges each of the three was receiving.
