Vehicle Pursuit results in two being arrested on multiple charges.
Gary Mathers Brianna Petty

On 06/06/2014, Deputy Jeremy Arnold was patrolling the Bogardus Road area when he observed a vehicle being driven by Gary Mathers. Mathers had a passenger in the vehicle that Deputy Arnold also recognized as Brianna Petty. At the time, Brianna Petty had an active warrant out for her arrest through Scott County. After making this observation, Deputy Arnold turned around and followed the vehicle to investigate. The vehicle abruptly pulled into a driveway on Bogardus Road. Deputy Arnold pulled in behind them. As Deputy Arnold was stepping out his patrol car, Mathers accelerated, throwing rocks and dirt all over Deputy Arnold’s patrol car. Deputy Arnold pursued Mathers and Petty for several miles. The pursuit went off road into corn field off of Oard Springs Road. Deputy Arnold terminated the pursuit after Mathers crashed the vehicle into a row of trees and into another corn field. Deputy Arnold was able to pursue Mathers on foot and apprehend him near his residence on Oard Springs road. A search of the area was conducted which resulted in Indiana State Trooper Matt Busick locating Petty in an outbuilding near Mathers’ residence. Petty was placed under arrest for her outstanding warrant.

Deputies located prescription narcotics, hypodermic needles and paraphernalia consistent with dealing narcotics inside the suspect vehicle.

Sheriff Dan McClain gives credit to the website and tip line stating that earlier in the week, the department received a tip that Petty had a warrant and that she could be found with Gary Mathers. All crime tips are passed on to the deputies to make them aware and alert of possible criminal activity.
