January 16, 2014: weather in Scott County reared its ugly head and proved hazardous to drivers. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to twenty-one (21) reported crashes on county roads throughout the day, with two resulting in minor injuries.
Sheriff Mc Clain and Deputies were prepared for the inclement weather, but with 453 miles of slick and icy roads, responding to the crashes proved challenging. As always, the Office’s HUMVEES (four wheel drive military vehicles) were on standby to get into areas not accessible by Deputies vehicles.
Sheriff Mc Clain urged all drivers to carry a roadside assistance kit in their vehicles consisting of, but not limited to, food, water, blankets and a flashlight. It is also recommended that you fill your fuel tank before the weather hits.
