Scott County Sheriff Corrections Deputies Avert a Tragedy

Scott-On January 5, 2022 at approximately 9:15am, Scott County Sheriff Correctional Deputies averted a certain tragedy when they discovered an inmate had attempted to harm themselves while incarcerated inside the jail facility. Upon discovery, Correctional Deputies and the Jail Nurse provided lifesaving support to the inmate prior to the arrival of Emergency Medical Services. The inmate was transported to the Scott County Hospital for treatment and was subsequently returned to the Jail once cleared by medical staff to do so.  Jail Commander Doug Herald stated "the professionalism and competency of the staff at the jail really shined through regarding this incident...I couldn't be prouder of my team".  Sheriff Goodin echoed the comments made by Jail Commander Herald, stating one thing I am asked periodically is "what keeps me up at night, which I reply the safety and security of the citizens and of the jail facility is a constant concern.  I am blessed to have the best correctional staff of any Sheriff in Indiana...competent, capable professionals.  Because of this, myself along with our citizens, can rest easy knowing the jail facility and inmates are in good hands".
