Two Traffic Stops Yield Big Load of Methamphetamine and Enough Fentanyl to Kill over 2,000 People
Scott County-On September 1, 2020, First Sergeant John Hartman and Deputies Jessica Dickey, Jamie Royce and Dilan Campbell conducted a traffic stop in rural Scott County. An investigation led to the arrest of Scott Todd Cope, 32, of Lexington, IN. for Possession of Methamphetamine, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Unlawful Possession of a Syringe, Possession of Marijuana and Driving While Suspended Prior.
During the stop approximately 30 grams of suspected Methamphetamine and other drug related items were located.
Later in the early morning hours, Deputy Skylar Thompson conducted a traffic stop in rural Scott County. He was assisted by Corporal Johnney Coomer and Deputy Jessica Dickey. An investigation was conducted and led to the arrest of three people on drug and gun related charges. Austin Bogan, 25, of Lexington, IN, was arrested for Possession of a Handgun Without a License, Possession of Paraphernalia, Dealing or Possession of a Look a Like Substance, (Fentanyl), Possession of Marijuana and Maintaining a Common Nuisance. Nicholas George, 18, of Jacksonville, FL. Was arrested for Possession of a Handgun Without a License, Possession of Paraphernalia, Dealing or possession of a Look a Like Substance, (Fentanyl), Possession of Marijuana and Visiting a Common Nuisance. Byron Miller, 28, of Lexington, IN. was arrested for Possession of a Handgun Without a License, Dealing or Possession of a Look a Like Substance, (Fentanyl), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia and Visiting a Common Nuisance. During the traffic stop deputies located approximately 5.5 grams of Fentanyl, approximately a half of a pound of Marijuana, over $1,000.00 in U.S. Currency and two guns.
On September 1, 2020, First Sergeant John Hartman and Deputies Jamie Royce and Dylan Campbell responded to rural Scott County for a disturbance call. Upon arrival an investigation led to the arrest of Michelle Allison, 30, of Taswell, IN for an out of county warrant and received an additional charge of Public Intoxication.
Sheriff Goodin continues to praise the efforts of the Scott County Deputies. Their work in attacking the drug dealers, especially in this case with seized Fentanyl, saved lives not only in Scott County, but wherever this stuff could have ended up.
