Alleged Domestic Situation Ends in Shooting, Resulting in the Death of a Scott County Resident

Scott County- On 4-17-2024 at approximately 1:00 am, Scott County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a shooting which reportedly occurred at 2929 East State Road 56, east of the Scottsburg. Upon arrival, deputies discovered one (1) male occupant of the home, later identified as Edward M. Calton, 49, had been shot and later died after being transported by Scott County EMS to the Scott Memorial Hospital. Deputies secured the scene of the shooting and requested assistance from the Indiana State Police (ISP), who assumed investigative responsibility for the incident upon their arrival at the scene.
